Haringey Cleaners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Haringey Cleaners in respect of the current financial year. It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Haringey Cleaners is committed to conducting business in an ethical and responsible way that respects the rights and dignity of every person.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Haringey Cleaners has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage and child labour. We expect the same high standards from all employees, workers, contractors, suppliers and business partners who work with or on behalf of our company.
No form of exploitation is acceptable in any part of our business or supply chain. We will not knowingly enter into or continue business relationships with any party that engages in, or is complicit in, modern slavery practices. We actively promote fair treatment, lawful employment, and safe working conditions throughout our organisation.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Haringey Cleaners provides professional cleaning services to commercial and residential clients. Our workforce includes directly employed staff and vetted subcontractors. Our supply chains involve providers of cleaning materials, equipment, uniforms and related services necessary to deliver our operations.
We recognise that certain sectors and regions present higher risks of labour exploitation. We therefore pay particular attention to the sourcing of cleaning products, consumables and agency labour, and we expect transparency from partners at every stage of the supply chain.
Policies and Governance
Our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery is supported by internal policies on recruitment, supplier onboarding, ethical conduct and whistleblowing. These policies are communicated to all staff and included in induction training. Managers are responsible for promoting awareness of these standards and ensuring they are understood and followed.
We strive to recruit staff directly wherever possible and, when using labour providers, we require that they comply with all applicable employment and human rights legislation. Identity checks, right to work verification and clear written terms of employment are standard requirements.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Haringey Cleaners conducts due diligence on new and existing suppliers, with a focus on labour practices and transparency. As part of our procurement process, suppliers are required to confirm that they do not tolerate modern slavery and that they take reasonable steps to prevent it within their own operations and supply chains.
We reserve the right to audit suppliers and subcontractors where we consider the risk to be higher or where concerns are raised. These audits may include reviewing employment records, wage documentation, working hours, and health and safety practices, as well as speaking directly with workers where appropriate and safe to do so.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our modern slavery standards, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within clearly defined timeframes. Where necessary, and particularly in cases of serious or persistent non-compliance, we will suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Protection
We encourage all employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or exploitation in our business or supply chains. Concerns may include suspected forced labour, withholding of passports, unfair recruitment practices, inappropriate deductions from wages, or unsafe and degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made to line managers or senior management. All concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and managed confidentially as far as possible. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern or participates in an investigation.
Training and Awareness
To ensure that modern slavery risks are understood and appropriately managed, we provide guidance and awareness-raising for relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and contract management. This includes helping employees recognise indicators of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns.
We are committed to continually improving our approach and seeking opportunities to strengthen our procedures, working in partnership with suppliers and industry contacts where appropriate.
Monitoring and Annual Review
Haringey Cleaners monitors the effectiveness of the measures described in this statement through regular management reviews, supplier feedback and the monitoring of any reported concerns or incidents. Lessons learned are used to update our policies, processes and training materials.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every financial year and updated where necessary to reflect changes in our business, legal requirements or best practice. The review is overseen by senior management to ensure our commitment to preventing modern slavery remains central to the way we operate.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Haringey Cleaners and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the current financial year.
